About Zameen
Clothing can carry a sense of place.
Zameen — ground
Zameen is the Hindustani word for ground — the land under your feet, and the place you come from.
We make statement jackets that take their visual language from specific places: their architecture, landscapes, craft traditions and patterns. Each jacket is a chapter, and each chapter is a translation — from a place we have studied into a garment you can wear.
A translation is never the original. So we name our sources on every product page, mark how close each design sits to them, and say plainly that the traditions belong to their communities — not to us.

Sleeve band, Golden Procession Jacket: paired elephants and a lotus in raised gold thread.
“We would rather name a place than borrow its look. Different roots — same ground.”

Front, One Culture Jacket: a single-line portrait and the house Z in tonal gold.

Design philosophy
From place to form.
01
Research
Understanding visual references, architecture, landscapes, craft and local aesthetics — and who they belong to.
02
Interpret
Turning references into a contemporary design language without inventing meanings they never carried.
03
Build
Translating the concept into embroidery, placement, texture and garment construction.
04
Zameen
A jacket that carries the visual memory of a place without becoming a costume.
Craftsmanship & credit
The standard we hold
Research
Every reference starts with a place, a period and a maker. We read, look closely and note where each form comes from before anything is drawn.
Consult
Designs are shown to people who know the source — craftspeople, historians, people from the place — and we listen when the answer is no.
Collaborate
Where a living craft is involved, the aim is to work with its practitioners, not around them, and to say so plainly when we have not.
Adapt
Motifs are redrawn for embroidery and for the shape of a jacket — without inventing meanings they never carried.
Attribute
Every product page names its source, location, technique and who the tradition belongs to, with a badge that says how close the design sits to it.
Culture is more than a pattern.
